The In-situ Wildlife Conservation is a non-governmental, non-profit international wildlife organization.
Our primary goal is the investigation, documentation and the taking of decisive action including but not limited to the prosecution of the perpetrators of Wildlife and Habitat Crimes. Our second Goal is the formation of an official organ of the UN, Mandated to Protect Wildlife/ Habitats and the formation of legally binding and enforceable international wildlife & Habitat laws.
The organization was founded by Dr. Constantine Kasule in early 2004
The reason for this is that, whilst countless conservation organizations and conservationists risk life and limb in the conservation of species and habitats, the major culprits and perpetrators of wildlife and habitat crimes, i.e. traffickers, transporters, traders, logging, mining, illegal ranching and fishing companies to mention but a few, unscrupulous wildlife traders and corrupt officials remain mostly un-prosecuted even if there is evidence implicating them and or their interests in these crimes. This hopeless situation has fueled the unsustainable utilization of Wildlife, the indiscriminate destruction of eco-systems, the Bush meat crisis, the pet and souvenir trade with its gruesome ramifications and horrendous atrocities currently committed against Wildlife.
There are no legally binding and enforceable international Wildlife and Habitat laws.
All current wildlife/habitat agreements/statutes and treaties rely on the "local CITIES or Traffic officials" subject to local politics, sectarianism, civil strife and on the priorities of governments to implement and or enforce them; Wildlife and habitats are still considered national Properties/Resources at the disposal of national governments most which are either corrupt/dictatorial or with out the resources to either monitor or prosecute atrocities by the logging, mining, pet and souvenir industries.
There is currently no Organ of the UN mandated to Protect wildlife and Habitats,
Whilst the United Nations has created and Mandated organs like the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ), directing the International Law commission (ILC) to formulate the necessary legal frame work and Machinery(International laws) and facilitated these organs to track and prosecute Perpetrators, There is no UN Organ Mandated to protect wildlife/habitats or track and prosecute indiscriminate habitat destruction by the logging, mining or road construction companies, or crimes committed against wildlife by the pet, souvenir and fur industries World wide.
Species extinction continues to escalate because of the fragmented individual conservational efforts, without a consensus for decisive action against Wildlife and Habitat Crimes. Its evident that individual conservation efforts against perpetration have remained largely un-successful because, most organizations are subject to local politics, bureaucracy and risk loosing their operational licence's and or permissions if they attempt to act against perpetrators in corrupt settings. However with out the international consensus, the absence of the UN-mandate with the necessary legal frame work for action against the perpetration of wildlife and Habitat crimes, all efforts remain largely fruitless. We need your individual, financial, legal, and organizational support to impress the UN to issue the mandate and to create the legal frame work for action and to stop Species extinction perpetuated by greed, corruption and irresponsibility by the perpetrators of crimes against wildlife.
